Jinn and Ifrit

Day 10 - The Jinn

The jinn (or djinn, or genie) originate in pre-Islamic Arabian mythology as humanoids that exist in a separate plane invisible to humans. They have various powers, can be invisible or interact with the physical realm and in some stories can grant wishes (though it’s often not as easy as rubbing a magic lamp).

Jinn are also found in Islamic mythology as the third creation of Allah alongside humans and angels, though they have free-will like humans and unlike angels.

Ifrit (or efreet) are infernal jinn who are are usually cruel and vicious but can also be good. they are described as creatures of fire.
